The international perspective
In order to adapt the contents and quality of our education to the increasing globalisation of our society and the further developing knowledge infrastructure resulting from this, Alfa-college attaches great value to fulfilling an active role in the field of international projects.
Three categories can be distinguished:
- Mobility
- Innovation
- Transfer of knowledge
Mobility of students and staff
Encouraging the possibilities of students to obtain an international orientation remains one of the main targets of Alfa-college’s international policy. That is why Alfa-college offers students the possibility to do an international work placement of 10 to 20 weeks as part of their training or to take part in an international exchange. In this way students acquire new personal and social skills by working in a different culture, speaking another language and complying with rules and regulations appropriate in the host organisation which differ from Dutch culture.
Members of staff and directors go abroad within the framework of professionalisation of our organisation in order to broaden their horizon by means of transfer of knowledge, skills and experience. Staff exchanges are also an excellent way of harmonizing programmes in different countries worldwide. Study visits to companies and institutions provide understanding and insight into the specific sector.
Innovation
Alfa-college and its partner colleges work closely together in international projects aimed at renewing educational programmes. We participate in various international pilot projects funded by the European Union e.g. Comenius, Interreg, Leonardo da Vinci and Grundtvig.
Transfer of Knowledge
Alfa-college offers its knowledge to institutions and companies in the region as well as abroad. Apart from vocational training and adult education the educational divisions also cater for training courses and in-company training. This varies from corporate training in technology to language courses for individuals.
Co-operation in partner networks
It is essential to maintain a structural long-term relationship with partner colleges and other organisations in various countries worldwide for the purpose of exchanges and joint projects. The co-operation will lead to a flow of knowledge.
